“Horseback riding: a unique sport”
Maybe, Horseback riding is not one of the best-known sports, but it is one of the most complete. The reality is that riding a horse helps us exercise multiple parts of the body and clear the mind. Horseback riding is an Olympic sport since 1912. It became a fundamental point of the growth of the human race. It consists of different modalities where precision, obedience and care of the horse are key to success.
It is important to know the "core “(they are the muscles that provide stability and prevent injuries), it is the central muscular unit. Therefore, the "core" includes the muscles that influence the stabilization of the spine, pelvis and rib cage. An unstable pelvis can create unwanted movements of the rib cage and shoulders and this can also affect riders and the horse. Therefore, it is necessary to know them well.

• Juan Antonio Jiménez Cobo: He was born in Córdoba in Spain in 1959. He is one of the most successful Spanish riders. Juan Antonio Jiménez Cobo's sporting life began in the mid-80s. He said that from his parent’s house, his mother sometimes came down on horseback. He obtained a silver medal in Athens in 2004, in the team event, and fifth place in Sydney in 2000, in the same event.
• Rodrigo Pessoa: He is a Brazilian horseman who was born in Paris, France in 1972. He obtained bronze medals at the Olympic Games in 2000 and 1996 in team jumping and obtained a gold medal at the World Equestrian Games 1998. He said he had to get 0 to win, it was a very important moment for him. His beginnings were with ponies and already then, he began to show a special talent for horsemanship.
• Ludger Beerbaum: He is a German horseman who was born in Detmold in 1963. He is considered one of the best in the history of horseback riding. It has been in the first place of the world ranking of the FEI (International Equestrian Federation). He won four medals at the World Show Jumping Championships in 1990 and 2006, and twelve medals at the European Show Championships in 1997 and 2015. In an interview he said that his practice led him to success.
Here are 5 interesting facts about horse riding at the Olympic games:
1° In the modern Olympic Games, horseback riding appears in the second edition in Olympic Games the one held in 1900 in Paris.
2° At the Melbourne Olympics in 11956, Australia's strict veterinary regulations prevented horses from entering the country, so the equestrian events were held in Sweden.
3° As of 1912, the tests of classic mastery, jumping and full contest are already disputed. The three events that, today, are still running in the Olympic Games.
4° Until 1952 only military officers could compete. This same year; Equestrian competitions were open to all men (military or not).
5° Horses must be at least 9 years old. There is no maximum age.
